- E-mail, directory tree structure, computer vocabulary
- setting up personal directories on a local drive
Z:, saving web pages in given locations,
creating short text files with notepad
- creating individual e-mail accounts on the
yahoo.com server, replying, forwarding, attaching files
- preparing together as long as possible list of computer-oriented vocabulary
- WWW browsing, advanced search and information retrieval methods
- Working with MS Windows without a mouse
- MS Word - complex document structure
(chapters, sections, title page, table of contents, bibliography, references, footnotes, page numbering, etc.)
- preparing a template file in accordance with the example
- MS Word - using phonetic symbols and graphical contents
(phonetic transcription with IPAPhon symbols)
- downloading and storing images from web pages, inserting images into MS Word documents
- using the screen capture (PrtSc key) feature, basic image manipulation with Paint
- drawing with MS Word (Auto Shapes)
- On-line dictionaries

encyclopedias

- Machine translation (MT) and

- MS Excel - using spreadsheets for basic arithmetic and text manipulation
(e.g. preparing a table showing the number of occurences of
all characters of the alphabet in a sample English text, sorting and transforming textual data - a list of names)
- MS PowerPoint - preparing a presentation on a selected theme
(different slide layouts and formats, nonstandard animation and
slide transformations, automatic slide change setting, inserting pictures, etc.)
- Introduction to markup languages (HTML, LaTeX)
- Advanced text search and manipulation methods based on regular expressions
